Psalms 14

PSALM 14
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
To the chief Musician,
A Psalm of David.
1That there is not a God, the fool
doth in his heart conclude:
They are corrupt, their works are vile;
not one of them doth good.
2Upon men's sons the Lord from heav'n
did cast his eyes abroad,
To see if any understood,
and did seek after God.
3They altogether filthy are,
they all aside are gone;
And there is none that doeth good,
yea, sure there is not one.
4These workers of iniquity
do they not know at all,
That they my people eat as bread,
and on God do not call?
5There fear'd they much; for God is with
the whole race of the just.
6You shame the counsel of the poor,
because God is his trust.
7Let Isr'el's help from Sion come:
when back the Lord shall bring
His captives, Jacob shall rejoice,
and Israel shall sing.

Ps 53:1–6
For the Music Director. A Psalm of David.
1The fool has said in his heart,
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds,
there is none who does good.
2#Ps 63:1; 84:2 The Lord looks down from heaven
on the children of men,
to see if there are any who understand,
who seek God.
3#Ps 79:10; 80:5 They all turn aside,
together they become corrupt;
there is none who does good,
not even one.
4#Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge,
who eat my people as they eat bread,
but do not call on the Lord?
5#Ps 42:11; 43:5 There they were in great fear,
for God is with the generation of the righteous.
6#2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8–9 You shame the counsel of the poor,
but the Lord is his refuge.
7#Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3 Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come from Zion!
When the Lord turns back the captivity of His people,
Jacob will rejoice, and Israel will be glad.
