Psalms 128

PSALM 128
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
1Bless'd is each one that fears the Lord,
and walketh in his ways;
2For of thy labour thou shalt eat,
and happy be always.
3Thy wife shall as a fruitful vine
by thy house' sides be found:
Thy children like to olive-plants
about thy table round.
4Behold, the man that fears the Lord,
thus blessed shall he be.
5The Lord shall out of Sion give
his blessing unto thee:
Thou shalt Jerus'lem's good behold
whilst thou on earth dost dwell.
6Thou shalt thy children's children see,
and peace on Israel.

Psalm 128
A song to sing as we climb.
A happy family
1If people respect the Lord
and they obey his commands,
God has blessed them!
2You will eat the food that you have worked hard to grow.
You will have everything that you need.
You will be happy!
3Your wife will be like a vine that grows in your home,
and it gives many grapes.
Your children will sit around your table,
like the branches of an olive tree that are around you. #128:3 Both word pictures mean that you will have a happy family, with many children. An olive tree has many branches.
4Yes, if a man respects the Lord,
that is how God blesses him.
5The Lord rules from Zion,
and I pray that he will bless you. #128:5 Solomon built God's house, the temple, on Mount Zion in Jerusalem. For many Christians, Zion is a picture of heaven, where God lives.
Then you will see that Jerusalem is a good place to live in
for as long as you live.
6I pray that you will live to see your grandchildren.
May Israel have peace!
