Psalms 126

PSALM 126
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
1When Sion's bondage God turn'd back,
as men that dream'd were we.
2Then fill'd with laughter was our mouth,
our tongue with melody:
They 'mong the heathen said, The Lord
great things for them hath wrought.
3The Lord hath done great things for us,
whence joy to us is brought.
4As streams of water in the south,
our bondage, Lord, recall.
5Who sow in tears, a reaping time
of joy enjoy they shall.
6That man who, bearing precious seed,
in going forth doth mourn,
He doubtless, bringing back his sheaves,
rejoicing shall return.

A Joyful Return to Zion
A Song of Ascents.
1When #Ps. 128:6; (Gal. 6:16)the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion,
#Ps. 85:1; Jer. 29:14; Hos. 6:11; Joel 3:1We were like those who dream.
2Then #Acts 12:9our mouth was filled with laughter,
And our tongue with singing.
Then they said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”
3The Lord has done great things for us,
And we are glad.
4Bring back our captivity, O Lord,
As the streams in the South.
5#Job 8:21Those who sow in tears
Shall reap in joy.
6He who continually goes forth weeping,
Bearing seed for sowing,
Shall doubtless come again with #Is. 35:10; 51:11; 61:7; Jer. 31:9; (Gal. 6:9)rejoicing,
Bringing his sheaves with him.
