Psalms 125

PSALM 125
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
1They in the Lord that firmly trust
shall be like Sion hill,
Which at no time can be remov'd,
but standeth ever still.
2As round about Jerusalem
the mountains stand alway,
The Lord his folk doth compass so,
from henceforth and for aye.
3For ill men's rod upon the lot
of just men shall not lie;
Lest righteous men stretch
forth their hands unto iniquity.
4Do thou to all those that be good
thy goodness, Lord, impart;
And do thou good to those that are
upright within their heart.
5But as for such as turn aside
after their crooked way,
God shall lead forth with wicked men:
on Isr'el peace shall stay.

The Lord Surrounds His People
A Song of #[See Ps. 120, title]Ascents.
1Those who #Ps. 25:2, 3 trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which #Ps. 93:1; 104:5; [Prov. 10:30]cannot be moved, but abides forever.
2As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so #[2 Kgs. 6:17; Zech. 2:5]the Lord surrounds his people,
from this time forth and forevermore.
3For #Isa. 14:5 the scepter of wickedness shall not #Isa. 30:30 rest
on #See Ps. 16:5 the land allotted to the righteous,
lest the righteous #Gen. 3:22; Ex. 22:8stretch out
their hands to do wrong.
4 #
Ps. 119:68 Do good, O Lord, to those who are good,
and to those who are #See Ps. 7:10upright in their hearts!
5But those who #See Ps. 40:4 turn aside to their #Prov. 2:15 crooked ways
the Lord will lead away with #Ps. 92:7, 9; 94:4 evildoers!
#
Ps. 128:6; Gal. 6:16 Peace be upon Israel!
