PSALM 123
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
A Song of Ascents
1O thou that dwellest in the heav'ns,
I lift mine eyes to thee.
2Behold, as servants' eyes do look
their masters' hand to see,
As handmaid's eyes her mistress' hand;
so do our eyes attend
Upon the Lord our God, until
to us he mercy send.
3O Lord, be gracious to us,
unto us gracious be;
Because replenish'd with contempt
exceedingly are we.
4Our soul is fill'd with scorn of those
that at their ease abide,
And with the insolent contempt
of those that swell in pride.

Be Gracious to Your Servants
1A Song of Ascents. To You I lift up my eyes— You enthroned in the heavens.
2Behold, as the eyes of slaves to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a slave-girl to the hand of her mistress— so our eyes look to Adonai our God, till He shows us favor.
3Show us favor, Adonai, show us favor! For we have endured much contempt.
4Our soul has had enough of the scorn of those at ease, the contempt of the proud.
