Psalms 122
122
PSALM 122
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
A Song of Ascents,
Of David.
1I joy'd when to the house of God,
Go up, they said to me.
2Jerusalem, within thy gates
our feet shall standing be.
3Jerus'lem, as a city, is
compactly built together:
4Unto that place the tribes go up,
the tribes of God go thither:
To Isr'el's testimony, there
to God's name thanks to pay.
5For thrones of judgment, ev'n the thrones
of David's house, there stay.
6Pray that Jerusalem may have
peace and felicity:
Let them that love thee and thy peace
have still prosperity.
7Therefore I wish that peace may still
within thy walls remain,
And ever may thy palaces
prosperity retain.
8Now, for my friends' and brethren's sakes,
Peace be in thee, I'll say.
9And for the house of God our Lord,
I'll seek thy good alway.

Psalms 122
122
A song of David for going up to the Temple.
1I was happy when the people said,
“Let us go to the Lord’s Temple.”
2Here we are, standing at the gates of Jerusalem.
3This is New Jerusalem!
The city has been rebuilt as one united city.
4This is where the tribes come, the tribes who belong to the Lord.
The people of Israel come here to praise the Lord’s name.
5The kings from David’s family put their thrones here.
They set up their thrones to judge the people.
6Pray for peace in Jerusalem:
“May those who love you find peace.
7May there be peace within your walls.
May there be safety in your great buildings.”
8For the good of my family and neighbors,
I pray that there will be peace here.
9For the good of the Temple of the Lord our God,
I pray that good things will happen to this city.
