Psalms 122
122
PSALM 122
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
A Song of Ascents,
Of David.
1I joy'd when to the house of God,
Go up, they said to me.
2Jerusalem, within thy gates
our feet shall standing be.
3Jerus'lem, as a city, is
compactly built together:
4Unto that place the tribes go up,
the tribes of God go thither:
To Isr'el's testimony, there
to God's name thanks to pay.
5For thrones of judgment, ev'n the thrones
of David's house, there stay.
6Pray that Jerusalem may have
peace and felicity:
Let them that love thee and thy peace
have still prosperity.
7Therefore I wish that peace may still
within thy walls remain,
And ever may thy palaces
prosperity retain.
8Now, for my friends' and brethren's sakes,
Peace be in thee, I'll say.
9And for the house of God our Lord,
I'll seek thy good alway.

Psalms 122
122
Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem
A song of ascents. Of David.
1I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord.”
2Our feet are standing in your gates,
O Jerusalem.
3Jerusalem is built up
as a city united together,
4where the tribes go up,
the tribes of the Lord,
as a testimony for Israel,
to give thanks to the name of the Lord.
5For there the thrones of judgment stand,
the thrones of the house of David.
6Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May those who love you prosper.#122:6 Or be secure
7May there be peace within your walls,
and prosperity #122:7 Or security inside your fortresses.”
8For the sake of my brothers and friends,
I will say, “Peace be within you.”
9For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
I will seek your prosperity.
