Psalms 121

PSALM 121
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
A Psalm of Ascents
1I to the hills will lift mine eyes,
from whence doth come mine aid.
2My safety cometh from the Lord,
who heav'n and earth hath made.
3Thy foot he'll not let slide, nor will
he slumber that thee keeps.
4Behold, he that keeps Israel,
he slumbers not, nor sleeps.
5The Lord thee keeps, the Lord thy shade
on thy right hand doth stay:
6The moon by night thee shall not smite,
nor yet the sun by day.
7The Lord shall keep thy soul; he shall
preserve thee from all ill.
8Henceforth thy going out and in
God keep for ever will.

Psalms 121
121
Trust in God’s Protection
A song for the ascents.#The Hebrew Bible counts the superscription as the first verse of the psalm
1I lift up my eyes to the mountains;
whence will my help come?
2My help is from Yahweh,
maker of heaven and earth.
3He will not allow your foot to be moved;
he who protects you will not slumber.
4Look, he will not slumber and he will not sleep—
he who protects Israel.
5Yahweh is your protector;
Yahweh is your shade at your right hand.
6The sun will not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7Yahweh will protect you from all evil;#Or “all calamity”
he will protect your life.
8Yahweh will protect your going out and your coming in
from now until forever.
