PSALM 120
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
A Song of Ascents
1In my distress to God I cry'd,
and he gave ear to me.
2From lying lips, and guileful tongue,
O Lord, my soul set free.
3What shall be giv'n thee? or what
shall be done to thee, false tongue?
4Ev'n burning coals of juniper,
sharp arrows of the strong.
5Woe's me that I in Mesech am
a sojourner so long;
That I in tabernacles dwell
to Kedar that belong.
6My soul with him that hateth peace
hath long a dweller been.
7I am for peace; but when I speak,
for battle they are keen.

Psalm 120
120
Psalm 120
A song for those who go up to Jerusalem to worship the Lord.
1I call out to the Lord when I’m in trouble,
and he answers me.
2 Lord, save me from people whose lips tell lies.
Save me from people whose tongues don’t tell the truth.
3What will the Lord do to you, you lying tongue?
And what more will he do?
4He will punish you with the sharp arrows of a soldier.
He will punish you with burning coals from a desert bush.
5How terrible it is for me to live in the tents of the people of Meshek!
How terrible to live in the tents of the people of Kedar!
6I have lived too long
among those who hate peace.
7I want peace.
But when I speak, they want war.
