Psalms 118

PSALM 118
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
1O praise the Lord, for he is good;
his mercy lasteth ever.
2Let those of Israel now say,
His mercy faileth never.
3Now let the house of Aaron say,
His mercy lasteth ever.
4Let those that fear the Lord now say,
His mercy faileth never.
5I in distress call'd on the Lord;
the Lord did answer me:
He in a large place did me set,
from trouble made me free.
6The mighty Lord is on my side,
I will not be afraid;
For any thing that man can do
I shall not be dismay'd.
7The Lord doth take my part with them
that help to succour me:
Therefore on those that do me hate
I my desire shall see.
8Better it is to trust in God
than trust in man's defence;
9Better to trust in God than make
princes our confidence.
10The nations, joining all in one,
did compass me about:
But in the Lord's most holy name
I shall them all root out.
11They compass'd me about; I say,
they compass'd me about:
But in the Lord's most holy name
I shall them all root out.
12Like bees they compass'd me about;
like unto thorns that flame
They quenched are: for them shall I
destroy in God's own name.
13Thou sore hast thrust, that I might fall,
but my Lord helped me.
14God my salvation is become,
my strength and song is he.
15In dwellings of the righteous
is heard the melody
Of joy and health: the Lord's right hand
doth ever valiantly.
16The right hand of the mighty Lord
exalted is on high;
The right hand of the mighty Lord
doth ever valiantly.
17I shall not die, but live,
and shall the works of God discover.
18The Lord hath me chastised sore,
but not to death giv'n over.
19O set ye open unto me
the gates of righteousness;
Then will I enter into them,
and I the Lord will bless.
20This is the gate of God, by it
the just shall enter in.
21Thee will I praise, for thou me heard'st
and hast my safety been.
22That stone is made head corner-stone,
which builders did despise:
23This is the doing of the Lord,
and wondrous in our eyes.
24This is the day God made, in it
we'll joy triumphantly.
25Save now, I pray thee, Lord; I pray,
send now prosperity.
26Blessed is he in God's great name
that cometh us to save:
We, from the house which to the Lord
pertains, you blessed have.
27God is the Lord, who unto us
hath made light to arise:
Bind ye unto the altar's horns
with cords the sacrifice.
28Thou art my God, I'll thee exalt;
my God, I will thee praise.
29Give thanks to God, for he is good:
his mercy lasts always.

1O give thanks unto Hashem; for He is tov; Ki l'olam chasdo (for His mercy endureth forever).
2Let Yisroel now say, Ki l'olam chasdo.
3Let the Bais Aharon now say, Ki l'olam chasdo.
4Let them now that fear Hashem say, Ki l'olam chasdo,
5I called upon Hashem in distress; Hashem answered me, and set me in a broad place.
6 Hashem is on my side; I will not fear; what can adam do unto me?
7 Hashem taketh my part through them that help me; therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.
8It is better to trust in Hashem than to put confidence in adam.
9It is better to trust in Hashem than to put confidence in nedivim (nobles).
10All Goyim surrounded me; but in the Shem Hashem will I cut them off.
11They surrounded me; yes, they compassed me about; but in the Shem Hashem I will cut them off.
12They compassed me about like devorim (bees); they are extinguished like the eish of kotzim (thorns); for in the Shem Hashem I will cut them off.
13Thou hast hard pushed at me that I fell; but Hashem helped me.
14 Hashem is my oz (strength) and zimrah (song), and He is become my Yeshu'ah (salvation).
15The voice of rejoicing and Yeshu'ah (salvation) is in the ohalim of the tzaddikim; the Yamin Hashem doeth valiantly.
16The Yamin Hashem is exalted; the Yamin Hashem doeth valiantly.
17I shall not die, but live, and declare the ma'asim (works) of Hashem.
18 Hashem hath hard chastened me severely; but He hath not given me over unto mavet (death).
19Open to me the sha'arei tzedek; I will go through them, and I will praise Hashem;
20This is the sha'ar of Hashem, into which the tzaddikim shall enter.
21I will praise Thee; for Thou hast heard me, and art become my Yeshu'ah (salvation).
22The Even (Stone) which the Bonim (Builders) rejected#118:22 mem-alef-samech, see same word Ps 89:38 [39] has become the Rosh Pinnah (Cornerstone).
23This is Hashemʼs doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.
24This is the yom which Hashem hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
25Save now, we beseech Thee, Hashem; Hashem, we beseech thee, send now prosperity.
26Baruch habah b'Shem Hashem; we have blessed you from the Beis Hashem.
27 Hashem is G-d, Who hath showed us light; bind the chag (festival offering) with cords, even until#118:27 you come to the karnot of the Mizbe'ach.
28Thou art my G-d, and I will praise Thee; Thou art Elohai, I will exalt Thee.
29O give thanks unto Hashem; for He is tov; ki l'olam chasdo (for His mercy endureth forever).#118:29 T.N. A ma'amin b'Moshiach will carry Scripture with him at all times, as the following Psalm teaches.
