Psalms 113

PSALM 113
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
1Praise God: ye servants of the Lord,
O praise, the Lord's name praise.
2Yea, blessed be the name of God
from this time forth always.
3From rising sun to where it sets,
God's name is to be prais'd.
4Above all nations God is high,
'bove heav'ns his glory rais'd.
5Unto the Lord our God that dwells
on high, who can compare?
6Himself that humbleth things to see
in heav'n and earth that are.
7He from the dust doth raise the poor,
that very low doth lie;
And from the dunghill lifts the man
oppress'd with poverty;
8That he may highly him advance,
and with the princes set;
With those that of his people are
the chief, ev'n princes great.
9The barren woman house to keep
he maketh, and to be
Of sons a mother full of joy.
Praise to the Lord give ye.

Psalm 113
Hallelujah, God helps weak people #113:1 The Jews call the next 6 psalms, 113 to 118, ‘the Egyptian hallel.’ ‘Hallel’ is a Hebrew word that means ‘to praise’. Hallelujah means ‘Praise the Lord!’ Jews say these 6 psalms when they eat the Passover meal. That is when they remember how God brought the Israelite people out of Egypt, where they had been slaves.
1 Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!
Servants of the Lord, praise him!
Praise the name of the Lord!
2Everyone should praise the Lord
now and for ever!
3The Lord deserves that people praise him,
from where the sun rises in the east,
to where it goes down in the west.
4The Lord rules over all nations.
His glory is great
higher than the heavens!
5There is nobody like the Lord our God.
He sits on his throne high above us.
6He bends down to look below,
at the sky and the earth.
7He lifts poor people out of the dirt.
And he lifts up weak people from the ashes.
8He gives them a seat with princes,
the princes who rule his own people.
9He makes the wife who cannot give birth
into a happy mother of children.
Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!
