Psalms 112
112
PSALM 112
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
1Praise ye the Lord. The man is bless'd
that fears the Lord aright,
He who in his commandements
doth greatly take delight.
2His seed and offspring powerful
shall be the earth upon:
Of upright men blessed shall be
the generation.
3Riches and wealth shall ever be
within his house in store;
And his unspotted righteousness
endures for evermore.
4Unto the upright light doth rise,
though he in darkness be:
Compassionate, and merciful,
and righteous, is he.
5A good man doth his favour shew,
and doth to others lend:
He with discretion his affairs
will guide unto the end.
6Surely there is not any thing
that ever shall him move:
The righteous man's memorial
shall everlasting prove.
7When he shall evil tidings hear,
he shall not be afraid:
His heart is fix'd, his confidence
upon the Lord is stay'd.
8His heart is firmly stablished,
afraid he shall not be,
Until upon his enemies
he his desire shall see.
9He hath dispers'd, giv'n to the poor;
his righteousness shall be
To ages all; with honour shall
his horn be raised high.
10The wicked shall it see, and fret,
his teeth gnash, melt away:
What wicked men do most desire
shall utterly decay.

Psalms 112
112
Psalm 112#112.0 Ps 112 is an alphabetic acrostic poem; see the note at Pss 9–10.
1Praise the LORD!
Those who honor the LORD,
who adore God’s commandments, are truly happy!
2Their descendants will be strong throughout the land.
The offspring of those who do right will be blessed;
3wealth and riches will be in their houses.
Their righteousness stands forever.
4They shine in the dark for others who do right.
They are merciful, compassionate, and righteous.
5Those who lend generously are good people—
as are those who conduct their affairs with justice.
6Yes, these sorts of people will never be shaken;
the righteous will be remembered forever!
7They won’t be frightened at bad news.
Their hearts are steady, trusting in the LORD.
8Their hearts are firm; they aren’t afraid.
In the end, they will witness their enemies’ defeat.
9They give freely to those in need.
Their righteousness stands forever.
Their strength increases gloriously.
10The wicked see all this and fume;
they grind their teeth, but disappear to nothing.
What the wicked want to see happen comes to nothing!
