Yeshayah 50
50
1Thus saith Hashem, Where is the Sefer Keritut (Bill of Divorce) by which I sent your Em (Mother) away? Or which Nosheh (Creditor) of Mine is it to whom I have sold you [into slavery]? Behold, for your avonot (iniquities) have ye been sold, and for your peysha'im (rebellions) was your Em sent away.
2Why, when I came, was there no ish (man [at all] to respond)? When I called, was there none to answer? Is My Yad too short, that it cannot redeem? Or have I no ko'ach (power) to save? Behold, at My rebuke I dry up the yam (sea), I make the neharot (rivers) a midbar (desert); their dag (fish) stink, because there is no mayim, and die of tzama (thirst).
3I clothe Shomayim with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.
4Adonoi Hashem hath given Me#50:4 Moshiach; see 2Sm.7:5; Zech.3:8 and Isa 52:13 the leshon limmudim#50:4 see 8:16 (learned tongue of disciples), that I should know how to speak a devar (word, i.e., word of consolation) in season to him that is weary; He wakeneth baboker baboker (morning by morning), He wakeneth Mine ozen (ear) to hear as the limmudim (disciples, those being taught).
5Adonoi Hashem hath opened Mine ozen (ear), and I was not rebellious, neither did I turn back.#50:5 cf. Gn 3:8
6I#50:6 Moshiach offered My gev (back) to them that deliver blows, and My lekhi (cheeks) to them that pulled out:#50:6 the beard I hid not My face from kelimot (humiliations, shame) and rok (spitting, saliva).
7For Adonoi Hashem will help Me;#50:7 Moshiach therefore shall I not be disgraced; therefore have I set My face#50:7 as hard as khalamish (flint [See Lk 9:51]), and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
8He that vindicateth#50:8 i.e., maintains My Righteousness is karov (near), who will contend with Me? Let us stand together. Who is Mine Ba'al Mishpat (Adversary in court, the one bringing charges)? Let him draw near to#50:8 confront Me [in court].
9See, Adonoi Hashem will help Me.#50:9 Moshiach Who is he that shall condemn Me? See, they all shall wear out like a beged (garment); the ahsh (moth) shall eat them.
10Who among you that feareth Hashem, that obeyeth the voice of His Eved,#50:10 Moshiach though he may have walked in chashekhim (darknesses), with no gleam of light for himself, let him trust B'Shem Hashem, and lean upon Elohav.
11See, all ye that kindle an eish (fire), ye that prepare for battle with zikot (flashing firebrands), walk in the light of the fire of your [own making] and among the zikot (flashing firebrands) that ye have set burning, and this shall ye have from My Yad; ye shall lie down in ma'atze'vah (torment, pain, grieving).#50:11 See Isa 66:24; Dan 12:2; Ps 75:8

Isaiah 50
50
1This is what the Lord says:
Where is your mother’s divorce certificate
that I used to send her away?#Dt 24:1–3; Jr 3:8
Or to which of my creditors did I sell you?#Dt 32:30; 2Kg 4:1; Neh 5:5
Look, you were sold for your iniquities,#Is 13:11
and your mother was sent away
because of your transgressions.
2Why was no one there when I came?
Why was there no one to answer when I called?
Is my arm too weak to redeem?#Gn 18:14; Nm 11:23; Is 59:1
Or do I have no power to rescue?
Look, I dry up the sea by my rebuke;#Ex 14:21; Is 43:16; 44:27
I turn the rivers into a wilderness;
their fish rot because of lack of water
and die of thirst.
3I dress the heavens in black
and make sackcloth their covering.#Rv 6:12
The Obedient Servant
4The Lord God has given me
the tongue of those who are instructed#Is 8:16; 54:13
to know how to sustain the weary with a word.
He awakens me each morning;
he awakens my ear to listen like those being instructed.#Jn 4:34
5The Lord God has opened my ear,
and I was not rebellious;
I did not turn back.#Jn 8:29; 14:31; 15:10; Php 2:8; Heb 5:8
6I gave my back to those who beat me,
and my cheeks to those who tore out my beard.
I did not hide my face from scorn and spitting.#Mt 26:67; 27:26; Mk 14:65; 15:19; Lk 22:63; Jn 19:1–5
7The Lord God will help me;
therefore I have not been humiliated;
therefore I have set my face like flint,#Ezk 3:8–9
and I know I will not be put to shame.
8The one who vindicates me is near;#Is 45:25
who will contend with me?
Let us confront each other.#50:8 Lit us stand
Who has a case against me?#50:8 Lit Who is lord of my judgment
Let him come near me!
9In truth, the Lord God will help me;
who will condemn me?#Rm 8:33–34
Indeed, all of them will wear out like a garment;
a moth will devour them.#Jb 13:28; Is 51:8; Hs 5:12
10Who among you fears the Lord
and listens to his servant?#Is 42:1; 49:3–7; 52:13; 53:11; Ezk 34:23–24; Zch 3:8; Ac 3:13
Who among you walks in darkness,
and has no light?
Let him trust in the name of the Lord;
let him lean on his God.
11Look, all you who kindle a fire,
who encircle yourselves with#50:11 Syr reads who set ablaze torches;
walk in the light of your fire
and of the torches you have lit!
This is what you’ll get from my hand:
you will lie down in a place of torment.
