Yeshayah 15
15
1The massa (burden) of Moav. Because in the lailah (night) Ar of Moav is destroyed, and brought to silence; because in the lailah Kir of Moav is destroyed, and brought to silence;
2He is gone up to the [idol] temple, and to Divon, the#15:2 idolatrous high places, to weep: Moav shall howl over Nevo, and over Medeva; on all their rosh shall be shaved heads, and every zakan (beard) cut off.
3In their chutzot (streets) they shall gird themselves with sackcloth; on their rooftops, and in their rechovot (open areas), every one shall wail, falling down with weeping.
4And Cheshbon shall cry, and Elealeh; their voice shall be heard even unto Yahatz; therefore the loins of Moav shall shake; his nefesh shall be faint within him.
5My lev shall cry out for Moav; his fugitives shall flee unto Tzoar, and Eglat-Shelishiyah; for by the Ascent of Luchit with bekhi (weeping) shall they go up; for on the Derech Choronayim they shall raise up a lament because of destruction.
6For the waters of Nimrim shall be dried up; for the khatzir (grass) is withered away, the desheh (vegetation) faileth, yerek (green) there is none,
7Therefore the possessions they have gotten, and that which they have laid up, shall they carry away to the Nakhal HaAravim (Ravine of Willows).
8For the cry is gone all around the borders of Moav; the outcry thereof unto Eglayim, and the wailing thereof unto Be'er Elim.
9For the waters of Dimon shall be full of dahm; for I will bring more upon Dimon, aryeh (lion) upon him that escapeth of Moav, and upon she'erit adamah (the remnant of the land).

Isaiah 15

A Pronouncement against Moab
1A pronouncement concerning Moab:#Gn 19:31–37; Is 11:14; 25:10; Jr 48:1–38; Ezk 25:8–11; Am 2:1–3; Zph 2:8–9
Ar in Moab is devastated,#Nm 21:28
destroyed in a night.
Kir in Moab is devastated,
destroyed in a night.
2Dibon went up to its temple
to weep at its high places.
Moab wails on Nebo and at#15:2 Or wails over Nebo and over Medeba.
Every head is shaved;
every beard is chopped short.
3In its streets they wear sackcloth;
on its rooftops and in its public squares everyone wails,
falling down and weeping.
4Heshbon and Elealeh cry out;
their voices are heard as far away as Jahaz.#Nm 21:28; 32:3; Jr 48:34
Therefore the soldiers of Moab cry out,
and they tremble.
5My heart cries out over Moab,
whose fugitives flee as far as Zoar,#Gn 19:21–22
to Eglath-shelishiyah;
they go up the Ascent of Luhith weeping;
they raise a cry of destruction
on the road to Horonaim.
6The Waters of Nimrim#Nm 32:3,36; Jos 13:27 are desolate;
the grass is withered, the foliage is gone,
and the vegetation has vanished.
7So they carry their wealth and belongings
over the Wadi of the Willows.#Is 30:6; Jr 48:36
8For their cry echoes
throughout the territory of Moab.
Their wailing reaches Eglaim;
their wailing reaches Beer-elim.
9The Waters of Dibon#15:9 DSS, some LXX mss, Vg; MT reads Dimon, twice in this v. are full of blood,#2Kg 3:22–23
but I will bring on Dibon even more than this —
a lion for those who escape from Moab,
and for the survivors in the land.#2Sm 23:20; 1Ch 11:22
