1When Israel went out of Egypt,
the house of Jacob from a people of strange language,
2#Ps 63:1; 84:2 Judah was His sanctuary,
and Israel His dominion.
3#Ps 79:10; 80:5 The sea saw it and fled;
the Jordan was driven back;
4#Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8 the mountains skipped like rams
and the hills like lambs.
5#Ps 42:11; 43:5 What alarmed you, O sea, that you fled,
O Jordan, that you turned back,
6#2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8–9 O mountains, that you skipped like rams,
O hills, like lambs?
7#Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3 Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the God of Jacob
8#Job 35:10; Ps 63:6 who turned the rock into a pool of water,
the hard stone into a spring of waters.
