3Jesus reached out His hand and touched him, saying, “I will. Be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 4#Lev 14:2–32; Mt 9:30Then Jesus said to him, “See that you tell no one. But go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded as a testimony to them.”

Lk 7:1–10; Jn 4:43–54
5#Lk 7:1–10And when Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion#Zec 9:9. came to Him, entreating Him, 6#Mt 4:24and saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home, sick with paralysis, terribly tormented.”
7Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”
8#Ps 107:20The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But speak the word only, and my servant will be healed. 9For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this man, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10#Mt 15:28; Mk 6:6When Jesus heard it, He was amazed and said to those who followed, “Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel. 11#Mal 1:11; Isa 59:19And I say to you that many will come from the east and west and will dine with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 12#Mt 25:30; 13:42; 13:50But the sons of the kingdom will be thrown out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
13#Mt 9:22Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way. And as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that very moment.

14#1Co 9:5When Jesus entered Peter’s house, He saw his wife’s mother, lying sick with a fever. 15He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she rose and served them.
16When the evening came, they brought to Him many who were possessed with demons. And He cast out the spirits with His word, and healed all who were sick, 17#Isa 53:4; Mt 1:22to fulfill what was spoken by Isaiah the prophet,
“He Himself took our infirmities
and bore our sicknesses.”#Isa 53:4.
The Would-Be Followers of Jesus
Lk 9:57–62
18#Mk 4:35; Lk 8:22Now when Jesus saw large crowds around Him, He gave a command to depart to the other side. 19Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.”
20Jesus replied, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.”
21Another of His other disciples said to Him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”
22#Mt 9:9; Jn 1:43But Jesus said to him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their dead.”
The Calming of a Storm
Mk 4:35–41; Lk 8:22–25
23Then He entered the boat, and His disciples followed Him. 24Suddenly a great storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. 25His disciples went to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”
26#Mt 6:30; Ps 65:7He replied, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He rose and rebuked the winds and the sea. And there was a great calm.
27#Mk 1:27The men were amazed, saying, “What kind of Man is this that even the winds and the sea obey Him!”
The Healing of the Gergesene Demoniacs
Mk 5:1–20; Lk 8:26–39
28#Mk 5:1–20; Lk 8:26–39When He came to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two men possessed with demons, coming out of the tombs, extremely fierce, so that no one might pass by that way. 29#Mk 1:24; Lk 4:34Suddenly they cried out, saying, “What have we to do with You, Jesus, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”
30Now a good way off from them was a herd of many swine feeding. 31So the demons begged Him, saying, “If You cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of swine.”
32He said to them, “Go!” And when they came out, they went into the herd of swine. And suddenly the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters. 33Those who kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told everything, including what had happened to those possessed by the demons. 34#Ac 16:39; Lk 5:8The whole city came out to meet Jesus. And when they saw Him, they begged Him to depart out of their region.

Jesus Heals a Sick Man
1When Jesus came down from the hill, great crowds followed him. 2Then a man with a skin disease came to Jesus. The man bowed down before him and said, “Lord, you can heal me if you will.”
3Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man and said, “I will. Be healed!” And immediately the man was healed from his disease. 4Then Jesus said to him, “Don’t tell anyone about this. But go and show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded for people who are made well. This will show the people what I have done.”
Jesus Heals a Soldier’s Servant
5When Jesus entered the city of Capernaum, an army officer came to him, begging for help. 6The officer said, “Lord, my servant is at home in bed. He can’t move his body and is in much pain.”
7Jesus said to the officer, “I will go and heal him.”
8The officer answered, “Lord, I am not worthy for you to come into my house. You only need to command it, and my servant will be healed. 9I, too, am a man under the authority of others, and I have soldiers under my command. I tell one soldier, ‘Go,’ and he goes. I tell another soldier, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and my servant does it.
10When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. He said to those who were following him, “I tell you the truth, this is the greatest faith I have found, even in Israel. 11Many people will come from the east and from the west and will sit and eat with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 12But those people who should be in the kingdom will be thrown outside into the darkness, where people will cry and grind their teeth with pain.”
13Then Jesus said to the officer, “Go home. Your servant will be healed just as you believed he would.” And his servant was healed that same hour.
Jesus Heals Many People
14When Jesus went to Peter’s house, he saw that Peter’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a fever. 15Jesus touched her hand, and the fever left her. Then she stood up and began to serve Jesus.
16That evening people brought to Jesus many who had demons. Jesus spoke and the demons left them, and he healed all the sick. 17He did these things to bring about what Isaiah the prophet had said:
“He took our suffering on him
and carried our diseases.”#Isaiah 53:4
People Want to Follow Jesus
18When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he told his followers to go to the other side of the lake. 19Then a teacher of the law came to Jesus and said, “Teacher, I will follow you any place you go.”
20Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes to live in, and the birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to rest his head.”
21Another man, one of Jesus’ followers, said to him, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”
22But Jesus told him, “Follow me, and let the people who are dead bury their own dead.”
Jesus Calms a Storm
23Jesus got into a boat, and his followers went with him. 24A great storm arose on the lake so that waves covered the boat, but Jesus was sleeping. 25His followers went to him and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We will drown!”
26Jesus answered, “Why are you afraid? You don’t have enough faith.” Then Jesus got up and gave a command to the wind and the waves, and it became completely calm.
27The men were amazed and said, “What kind of man is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
Jesus Heals Two Men with Demons
28When Jesus arrived at the other side of the lake in the area of the Gadarene people, two men who had demons in them met him. These men lived in the burial caves and were so dangerous that people could not use the road by those caves. 29They shouted, “What do you want with us, Son of God? Did you come here to torture us before the right time?”
30Near that place there was a large herd of pigs feeding. 31The demons begged Jesus, “If you make us leave these men, please send us into that herd of pigs.”
32Jesus said to them, “Go!” So the demons left the men and went into the pigs. Then the whole herd rushed down the hill into the lake and were drowned. 33The herdsmen ran away and went into town, where they told about all of this and what had happened to the men who had demons. 34Then the whole town went out to see Jesus. When they saw him, they begged him to leave their area.
