Matthew 7

Do Not Judge
1“Judge #Matt. 7:1–5; Luke 6:37; Rom. 14:3; (1 Cor. 4:3, 4)not, that you be not judged. 2For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; #Mark 4:24; Luke 6:38and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. 3#Luke 6:41And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? 4Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? 5Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
6#Prov. 9:7, 8; Acts 13:45“Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.
Keep Asking, Seeking, Knocking
7#(Matt. 21:22; Mark 11:24); Luke 11:9–13; 18:1–8; (John 15:7; James 1:5, 6; 1 John 3:22)“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8For #Prov. 8:17; Jer. 29:12everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9#Luke 11:11Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11If you then, #Gen. 6:5; 8:21; Ps. 84:11; Is. 63:7; (Rom. 8:32; James 1:17); 1 John 3:1being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! 12Therefore, #Luke 6:31whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for #Matt. 22:40; Rom. 13:8; Gal. 5:14; (1 Tim. 1:5)this is the Law and the Prophets.
The Narrow Way
13#Luke 13:24“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
You Will Know Them by Their Fruits
15#Deut. 13:3; Jer. 23:16; Ezek. 22:28; Mark 13:22; (Luke 6:26); Rom. 16:17; Eph. 5:6; (Col. 2:8; 2 Pet. 2:1; 1 John 4:1–3)“Beware of false prophets, #Mic. 3:5who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16#Matt. 7:20; 12:33; Luke 6:44; James 3:12You will know them by their fruits. #Luke 6:43Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17Even so, #Jer. 11:19; Matt. 12:33every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19#Matt. 3:10; Luke 3:9; (John 15:2, 6)Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
I Never Knew You
21“Not everyone who says to Me, #Hos. 8:2; Matt. 25:11; Luke 6:46; Acts 19:13‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who #Rom. 2:13; James 1:22does the will of My Father in heaven. 22Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we #Num. 24:4not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23And #Matt. 25:12; Luke 13:25; (2 Tim. 2:19)then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; #Ps. 5:5; 6:8; (Matt. 25:41); Luke 13:27depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Build on the Rock
24“Therefore #Matt. 7:24–27; Luke 6:47–49whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
26“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
28And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that #Matt. 13:54; Mark 1:22; 6:2; Luke 4:32; John 7:46the people were astonished at His teaching, 29#(John 7:46)for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

S. Matthew 7
7
1Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2For with what judgement ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured unto you. 3And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me cast out the mote out of thine eye; and lo, the beam is in thine own eye? 5Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. 6Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast your pearls before the swine, lest haply they trample them under their feet, and turn and rend you.
7Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 9Or what man is there of you, who, if his son shall ask him for a loaf, will give him a stone; 10or if he shall ask for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
12All things therefore whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, even so do ye also unto them: for this is the law and the prophets. 13Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many be they that enter in thereby. 14For narrow is the gate, and straitened the way, that leadeth unto life, and few be they that find it.
15Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. 16By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20Therefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out devils, and by thy name do many mighty works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24Every one therefore which heareth these words of mine, and doeth them, shall be likened unto a wise man, which built his house upon the rock: 25and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon the rock. 26And every one that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and smote upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall thereof. 28And it came to pass, when Jesus ended these words, the multitudes were astonished at his teaching: 29for he taught them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.
