Isaiah 62
62
Assurance of Zion’s Salvation
1For Zion’s sake I will not hold My peace,
And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest,
Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness,
And her salvation as a lamp that burns.
2#Is. 60:3The Gentiles shall see your righteousness,
And all #Ps. 102:15, 16; 138:4, 5; 148:11, 13kings your glory.
#Is. 62:4, 12; 65:15You shall be called by a new name,
Which the mouth of the Lord will name.
3You shall also be #Is. 28:5; Zech. 9:16; 1 Thess. 2:19a crown of glory
In the hand of the Lord,
And a royal diadem
In the hand of your God.
4#Hos. 1:10; 1 Pet. 2:10You shall no longer be termed #Is. 49:14; 54:6, 7Forsaken,
Nor shall your land any more be termed #Is. 54:1Desolate;
But you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah;
For the Lord delights in you,
And your land shall be married.
5For as a young man marries a virgin,
So shall your sons marry you;
And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride,
#Is. 65:19So shall your God rejoice over you.
6#Is. 52:8; Jer. 6:17; Ezek. 3:17; 33:7I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem;
They shall never hold their peace day or night.
You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent,
7And give Him no rest till He establishes
And till He makes Jerusalem #Is. 60:18; 61:11; Jer. 33:9; Zeph. 3:19, 20a praise in the earth.
8The Lord has sworn by His right hand
And by the arm of His strength:
“Surely I will no longer #Lev. 26:16; Deut. 28:31, 33; Judg. 6:3–6; Is. 1:7; Jer. 5:17give your grain
As food for your enemies;
And the sons of the foreigner shall not drink your new wine,
For which you have labored.
9But those who have gathered it shall eat it,
And praise the Lord;
Those who have brought it together shall drink it #Deut. 12:12; 14:23, 26in My holy courts.”
10Go through,
Go through the gates!
#Is. 40:3; 57:14Prepare the way for the people;
Build up,
Build up the highway!
Take out the stones,
#Is. 11:12Lift up a banner for the peoples!
11Indeed the Lord has proclaimed
To the end of the world:
#Zech. 9:9; Matt. 21:5; John 12:15“Say to the daughter of Zion,
‘Surely your salvation is coming;
Behold, His #Is. 40:10; (Rev. 22:12)reward is with Him,
And His work before Him.’ ”
12And they shall call them The Holy People,
The Redeemed of the Lord;
And you shall be called Sought Out,
A City Not Forsaken.

Isaiah 62
62
Jerusalem Will Be Saved
1Jerusalem, I will speak up
for your good.
I will never be silent
till you are safe and secure,
sparkling like a flame.
2Your great victory will be seen
by every nation and king;
the Lord will even give you
a new name.
3You will be a glorious crown,
a royal headband
for the Lord your God.
4Your name will no longer be
“Deserted and Childless,”
but “Happily Married.”
You will please the Lord;
your country
will be his bride.
5Your people will take the land,#62.5 Your … land: One possible meaning for the difficult Hebrew text.
just as a young man
takes a bride.
The Lord will be pleased
because of you,
just as a husband is pleased
with his bride.
6Jerusalem, on your walls
I have stationed guards,
whose duty it is
to speak out day and night,
without resting.
They must remind the Lord
7and not let him rest
till he makes Jerusalem strong
and famous everywhere.
8The Lord has given his word
and made this promise:
“Never again will I give
to your enemies
the grain and grapes
for which you struggled.
9As surely as you harvest
your grain and grapes,
you will eat your bread
with thankful hearts,
and you will drink your wine
in my temple.”
10People of Jerusalem,
open your gates!
Repair the road to the city
and clear it of stones;
raise a banner to help
the nations find their way.
11 #
Is 40.10; Rev 22.12. Here is what the Lord has said
for all the earth to hear:
“Soon I will come to save
the city of Zion
and to reward you.
12Then you will be called,
‘The Lord's Own People,
The Ones He Rescued!’
Your city will be known
as a good place to live
and a city full of people.”
