The Great Flood
1Then the #Matt. 11:28Lord said to Noah, #Matt. 24:38; Luke 17:26; Heb. 11:7; 1 Pet. 3:20; 2 Pet. 2:5“Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that #Gen. 6:9; Ps. 33:18; Prov. 10:9; 2 Pet. 2:9you are righteous before Me in this generation. 2You shall take with you seven each of every #Lev. 11; Deut. 14:3–20clean animal, a male and his female; #Lev. 10:10; Ezek. 44:23two each of animals that are unclean, a male and his female; 3also seven each of birds of the air, male and female, to keep the species alive on the face of all the earth. 4For after #Gen. 7:10; Ex. 7:25seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth #Gen. 7:12, 17forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made.” 5#Gen. 6:22And Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him. 6Noah was #Gen. 5:4, 32six hundred years old when the floodwaters were on the earth.
7#Gen. 6:18; 7:1, 13; Matt. 24:38; Luke 17:27So Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, went into the ark because of the waters of the flood. 8Of clean animals, of animals that are unclean, of birds, and of everything that creeps on the earth, 9two by two they went into the ark to Noah, male and female, as God had commanded Noah. 10And it came to pass after seven days that the waters of the flood were on the earth. 11In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on #Matt. 24:39; Luke 17:27; 2 Pet. 2:5; 3:6that day all #Gen. 8:2; Prov. 8:28; Is. 51:10; Ezek. 26:19the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the #Gen. 8:2; Ps. 78:23windows of heaven were opened. 12#Gen. 7:4, 17; 1 Sam. 12:18And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights.
13On the very same day Noah and Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark— 14#Gen. 6:19they and every beast after its kind, all cattle after their kind, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, every bird of every #Gen. 1:21sort. 15And they #Gen. 6:19, 20; 7:9went into the ark to Noah, two by two, of all flesh in which is the breath of life. 16So those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in #Gen. 7:2, 3as God had commanded him; and the Lord shut him in.
17#Gen. 7:4, 12; 8:6Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. 18The waters prevailed and greatly increased on the earth, #Ps. 104:26and the ark moved about on the surface of the waters. 19And the waters prevailed exceedingly on the earth, and all the high hills under the whole heaven were covered. 20The waters prevailed fifteen cubits upward, and the mountains were covered. 21#Gen. 6:7, 13, 17; 7:4And all flesh died that moved on the earth: birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. 22All in #Gen. 2:7whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, all that was on the dry land, died. 23So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Only #Matt. 24:38, 39; Luke 17:26, 27; Heb. 11:7; 1 Pet. 3:20; 2 Pet. 2:5Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive. 24#Gen. 8:3, 4And the waters prevailed on the earth one hundred and fifty days.

Genesis 7
7
1The Lord told Noah, “Go into the ark with all your family. I have seen how you are a man of integrity, living a moral life among the people of this generation. 2Take with you seven pairs, male and female, of every kind of clean animal, and one pair, male and female, of every kind of unclean animal. 3In addition take seven pairs, male and female, of all the birds, so their different kinds will survive throughout the earth. 4In seven days I'm going to make it rain for forty days and nights. I'm going to wipe out from the surface of the earth all the living creatures I made.”
5Noah did exactly what the Lord ordered him to do.
6Noah was 600 when the flood waters covered the earth. 7Noah went into the ark, taking with him his wife and his sons and their wives, because of the flood. 8Clean and unclean animals, birds, and creatures that run along the ground, 9went into the ark with Noah. They came in pairs, male and female, just as God had told Noah. 10After seven days the floodwaters swept over the earth.
11Noah was 600 when on the seventeenth day of the second month all the subterranean waters burst through the earth, and heavy rain poured down from the sky. 12Rain continued to fall on the earth for forty days and nights.
13That was the actual day#7:13. “Actual day”: referring back to the day mentioned in verse 11. when Noah, his wife, and their sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth together with their three wives went into the ark. 14They had with them every kind of wild animals, livestock, creatures that run along the ground, and birds—everything with wings. 15They all came into the ark with Noah in pairs—every living thing that breathes. 16A male and a female of every creature entered, as God had told Noah. Then the Lord shut the door behind him.
17The flood increased for forty days, lifting the ark so that it floated up from the earth. 18The floodwaters surged and grew deeper and deeper over the earth, but the ark floated along on the surface. 19Finally the water grew so deep that even the highest mountains were covered—all that could be seen was sky. 20The water rose so much that it was higher than the mountains by fifteen cubits. 21Everything living on earth died—the birds, livestock, wild animals, all creatures that run along the ground, and all the people. 22Everything on land that breathed, died. 23The Lord wiped out all life on earth—people, livestock, creatures that run along the ground, and birds. All were killed. The only ones left were Noah and those with him on the ark. 24The earth remained flooded for 150 days.
