Matthew 9
1¶ And he entered into a ship and passed over and came into his own city.
2And, behold, they brought him a paralyzed man, lying on a bed; and Jesus, seeing their faith, said unto the paralyzed man, Trust, son; thy sins are forgiven thee.
3And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemes.
4And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Why think ye evil in your hearts?
5For what is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee, or to say, Arise, and walk?
6But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins (then said he to the paralyzed man), Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
7Then he arose and departed to his house.
8And the multitude, seeing it, marvelled and glorified God, who had given such power unto men.
9¶ And as Jesus passed forth from there, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom; and he said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.
10And it came to pass, as he sat at food in his house, behold, many publicans and sinners that had come sat down at the table with Jesus and his disciples.
11And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why does your Master eat with publicans and sinners?
12But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, Those that are whole need not a physician, but those that are sick.
13Therefore go ye and learn what this is, I will have mercy and not sacrifice, for I am not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.
14¶ Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but thy disciples do not fast?
15And Jesus said unto them, Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then they shall fast.
16No one mends an old garment with a piece of new cloth, for that patch takes from the garment, and the rent is made worse.
17Neither do they put new wine into old wineskins, otherwise the wineskins break, and the wine runs out, and the wineskins perish; but they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved together.
18¶ While he spoke these things unto them, behold, a certain ruler came and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead; but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.
19And Jesus arose and followed him, and so did his disciples.
20And, behold, a woman who was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years came behind him and touched the hem of his garment;
21for she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be free.
22But Jesus turned around, and when he saw her, he said, Trust, daughter; thy faith has made thee free. And the woman was free from that hour.
23And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,
24he said unto them, Give place, for the maid is not dead, but sleeps. And they laughed him to scorn.
25But when the people were put forth, he went in and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.
26And the fame of this went abroad into all that land.
27¶ And when Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed him, crying out and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.
28And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus said unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yes, Lord.
29Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.
30And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no one knows it.
31But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.
32And as they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a demon.
33And when the demon was cast out, the dumb man spoke; and the multitude marvelled, saying, Such a thing has never been seen in Israel.
34But the Pharisees said, He casts out demons through the prince of the demons.
35¶ And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing every sickness and every weakness among the people.
36And when he saw the multitude, he was moved with compassion on them because they fainted and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
37Then he said unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
38pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

Matthew 9
9
1 He entered into a boat and crossed over, and came into his own city. 2Behold, they brought to him a man who was paralyzed, lying on a bed. Yeshua, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, “Son, cheer up! Your sins are forgiven you.”
3 Behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man blasphemes.”
4Yeshua, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? 5For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven;’ or to say, ‘Get up, and walk’? 6But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins—” (then he said to the paralytic), “Get up, and take up your mat, and go to your house.”
7 He arose and departed to his house. 8But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.
9 As Yeshua passed by from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax collection office. He said to him, “Follow me.” He got up and followed him. 10As he sat in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Yeshua and his disciples. 11When the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, “Why does your rabbi eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
12 When Yeshua heard it, he said to them, “Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do. 13But you go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’#Hosea 6:6 for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”#9:13 NU omits “to repentance”.
14 Then Yochanan’s disciples came to him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples don’t fast?”
15Yeshua said to them, “Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast. 16No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch would tear away from the garment, and a worse hole is made. 17Neither do people put new wine into old wine skins, or else the skins would burst, and the wine be spilled, and the skins ruined. No, they put new wine into fresh wine skins, and both are preserved.”
18 While he told these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.”
19Yeshua got up and followed him, as did his disciples. 20Behold, a woman who had a discharge of blood for twelve years came behind him, and touched the fringe#9:20 or, tassel of his garment; 21for she said within herself, “If I just touch his garment, I will be made well.”
22 But Yeshua, turning around and seeing her, said, “Daughter, cheer up! Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour.
23 When Yeshua came into the ruler’s house and saw the flute players and the crowd in noisy disorder, 24he said to them, “Make room, because the girl isn’t dead, but sleeping.”
They were ridiculing him. 25But when the crowd was sent out, he entered in, took her by the hand, and the girl arose. 26The report of this went out into all that land.
27 As Yeshua passed by from there, two blind men followed him, calling out and saying, “Have mercy on us, son of David!” 28When he had come into the house, the blind men came to him. Yeshua said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”
They told him, “Yes, Lord.”
29 Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it done to you.” 30Then their eyes were opened. Yeshua strictly commanded them, saying, “See that no one knows about this.” 31But they went out and spread abroad his fame in all that land.
32 As they went out, behold, a mute man who was demon possessed was brought to him. 33When the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke. The multitudes marveled, saying, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!”
34 But the Pharisees said, “By the prince of the demons, he casts out demons.”
35Yeshua went about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people. 36But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them because they were harassed#9:36 TR reads “weary” instead of “harassed” and scattered, like sheep without a shepherd. 37Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest indeed is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38Pray therefore that the Lord of the harvest will send out laborers into his harvest.”
