Isaiah 52

Isaiah 52
1¶ Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for from now on the uncircumcised and the unclean shall no longer come into thee.
2Shake thyself from the dust; arise and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.
3For thus saith the Lord, Ye have sold yourselves for nothing; and ye shall be redeemed without money.
4For thus has the Lord GOD said, My people went down aforetime into Egypt to sojourn there; and the Assyrian captured them without cause.
5Now therefore, what have I here, saith the Lord, that my people is taken away for nothing? And those among my people that take rule over them make them to howl, saith the Lord; and my name is continually blasphemed every day.
6Therefore my people shall know my name for this reason in that day: for even I that speak, behold, I shall be present.
7¶ How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that brings good tidings, that publishes peace, that brings good tidings of good, that publishes saving health, that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigns!
8The voice of thy watchmen! They shall lift up the voice; together they shall rejoice: for they shall see eye to eye, how the Lord shall return to bring again Zion.
9Sing praises, rejoice together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the Lord has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem.
10The Lord has made bare the arm of his holiness before the eyes of all the Gentiles; and all the ends of the earth shall see the saving health of our God.
11Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from there, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the Lord.
12For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the Lord will go before you; and the God of Israel will gather you together.
13¶ Behold, my slave shall be prospered; he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.
14As many rejected thee, in such manner was his likeness and his beauty, disfigured from the sons of men:
15But he shall sprinkle many Gentiles; the kings shall shut their mouths over him: for that which had not been told them they shall see; and that which they had not heard they shall understand.

God will Rescue Jerusalem
1 #
Rev 21.2, 27 Jerusalem, be strong and great again!
Holy city of God, clothe yourself with splendour!
The heathen will never enter your gates again.
2Shake yourself free, Jerusalem!
Rise from the dust and sit on your throne!
Undo the chains that bind you,
captive people of Zion!
3The Sovereign LORD says to his people, “When you became slaves, no money was paid for you; in the same way nothing will be paid to set you free. 4When you went to live in Egypt as foreigners, you did so of your own free will; Assyria, however, took you away by force and paid nothing for you. 5#Rom 2.24And now in Babylonia the same thing has happened: you are captives, and nothing was paid for you. Those who rule over you boast and brag and constantly show contempt for me. 6In time to come you will acknowledge that I am God and that I have spoken to you.”

Nah 1.15; Rom 10.15; Eph 6.15 How wonderful it is to see
a messenger coming across the mountains,
bringing good news, the news of peace!
He announces victory and says to Zion,
“Your God is king!”
8Those who guard the city are shouting,
shouting together for joy!
They can see with their own eyes
the return of the LORD to Zion!
9Break into shouts of joy,
you ruins of Jerusalem!
The LORD will rescue his city
and comfort his people.
10The LORD will use his holy power;
he will save his people,
and all the world will see it.

2 Cor 6.17
Make sure you leave Babylonia,
all you that carry the temple equipment!
Touch no forbidden thing;#52.11 forbidden thing: Any object that was considered ritually unclean.
keep yourselves holy and leave.
12This time you will not have to leave in a hurry;
you will not be trying to escape.
The LORD your God will lead you
and protect you on every side.
The Suffering Servant
13The LORD says,
“My servant will succeed in his task;
he will be highly honoured.#52.13 he will be highly honoured; or he will be restored to greatness and honour.
14Many people were shocked when they saw him;
he was so disfigured that he hardly looked human.

Rom 15.21
But now many nations will marvel at him,
and kings will be speechless with amazement.
They will see and understand
something they had never known.”
